The Lengths To Go Over Donuts

Zacary Jeaurond of Airdrie, AB is willing to go to great lengths, literally for Tim Horton’s to keep the Walnut Crunch donut from disappearing again. The donut was brought back for a limited time at the end of May after not being served for 10 years and Zac is willing to run as far as needed to keep his favourite donut around. Weirder is Zac actually is a cousin of mine.

Zacary is a long distance runner who is preparing to dedicate himself to run 100 km in a day if it means keeping the “iconic” donut around. He has been documenting his journey on social media. The goal  is to “raise awareness and to advocate for the walnut crunch,” according to Airdrie resident.

Nostalgia is a major part of the love for the donut, “I used to have the walnut crunch every weekend, going to hockey tournaments with my family and whatnot.” Zacary hopes to pass down the memory with his daughter, “When my daughter graduates, we can do it. Or maybe when she catches her first fish we can share one or something like that.”

While he’s asking Tim Hortons to keep the doughnut for good, he said he would also accept them bringing it back seasonally.

“Maybe it’s every year they bring it back for two weeks kind of idea and have it like Roll up the Rim.”

I have to say I have not had a passion for something like my cousin to go to those sorts of lengths to keep a donut or anything around. Not sure what that says about me, but more about the dedication of Zacary. I hope he accomplishes his goal and can get the Walnut Crunch to stick around even if just in Airdrie.

Run Zac Run
