– RCMP in Valleyview are continuing to investigate a fatal accident that happened on Highway 43 on Friday night. The collision between a quad and a pickup saw the operator of the quad, a 26 year-old resident of Sturgeon Lake, die at the scene.
– No doctors at the Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department all day today, tomorrow and on Friday. The Department was without a doctor on seven different occasions during February.
– Several provincial health care engagement sessions are happening around the region this week in Grande Prairie, Falher, Peace River, Manning, Fort Vermilion, High Level and La Crete.
– The Alberta Government is continuing to upgrade, moderize, and build more schools in the province. $681 million dollars has been invested into 43 priority projects, which includes Ecole Heritage in Falher.
– The Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL are looking to advance in their playoffs tonight. The Storm are up 2-1 in their best-of-five series with the Old Grizzlys with game four tonight in Olds. A win for the Storm would put them up against the Calgary Canucks in the quarter-finals.
– The North Peace Hockey League meanwhile is getting ready for their championship series between the Falher Pirates and Spirit River Rangers. Game one will be in Falher tomorrow night.
– In the NWJHL, it will be the Fort St. John Huskies against the La Crete Lumber Barons in their league finals. La Crete got past Beaverlodge in five games in the semi-finals, while Fort St. John beat the North Peace Navigators.
– Speaking of the Navs, their focus is now on preparing for the Junior B Provincials happening in Peace River in early April.
