This weekend’s headliner was Zach McPhee. Zach is a former hockey player turned country music singer. Zach spent his junior career bouncing around the WHL, including my favourite team the Everett Silvertips (I wonder why I love that team lol), before playing in the CIS (now USport) in Regina for their university. Zach turned to country music when his playing career came to an end, liek many others like Chad Brownlee, Jojo Mason and all the Hunter Brothers. In a short period of time Zach has found himself as one of the finalist in the Top of the Country contest, with a chance to win $25,000 during CCMA week this year in Edmonton.
The song that Zach headlined the show with is his new single “Who Knew.” A song about his own life in meeting his wife, with whom he has a young child. This is the debut radio single for Zach and has caught people’s attention. If this song is any indication Zach will have a solid career ahead of him.
*Update – Zach was the winner of the Top of the Country contest and the song became the iHeart Future star which gave him his first top 40 single.
