This weekend on River Country Rising Stars the headliner was Lawrence Maxwell. Lawrence is singer-songwriter and poet from Prince Edward Island. Having a headliner from PEI means all 10 provinces have been covered. Lawrence is a rare artist who has been to Peace River, not to perform but was here for a wedding back in the day. Lawrence is a singer who took the poetry he was writing and turned it into songs and has made some great tunes out of them. He was also a Boots and Hearts Emerging Showcase Wildcard Top 3 Finalist.
Lawrence has teamed up with Brooke MacArthur for a song “What You See in Me” that was written by Mr. Maxwell. Realizing he needed a female voice he reached out to Brooke and she agreed to do it. This is a great song from the PEI artist and you will find out more about him and the song in my conversation with him.
