This weekend on River Country Rising Stars the headliner was Justin Sutton and his newest release “How About Today.” Justin and his band North of 49 are an up and coming act that was voted in to play at the MDM/Willing Records party, and were up for a couple awards the past weekend at the CMABs, where they also got the chance to perform. Justin himself is from the east coast of Canada and found his way to Alberta, which has been a big thing for his career given the great opportunities for himself as well as the band to play than would necessarily be afforded on the east coast. Justin is starting to see their stock grow, and will even be playing in GP on April 11/12th.

The new single from Justin “How About Today” reflects on the frustration of no longer fitting in, weighed down by the pressures of modern life and a sense of losing touch with what truly matters. The song’s lyrics convey a yearning for escape, asking the question, “What if today is the day I leave it all behind?” Through its reflective tone, the song becomes an anthem for anyone who’s ever considered packing up and walking away from the life they once knew in search of something that feels more like home.
