The trailer for the upcoming theatrical, then Apple TV+ release of Ridley Scott’s next epic movie Napoleon has been released. The movie sees a reunion for the director and Oscar winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, who have worked together on Gladiator, which netted both Oscar nominations for their respective work. Napoleon will also star Oscar nomination actress Vanessa Kirby, who is best known for Mission Impossible Fall Out and Hobbs & Shaw.
Napoleon will depicts Napoleon’s rise to power through the lens of his addictive and volatile relationship with Empress Joséphine.
As a history buff I am curious by the film and will be interested to see if it will depict the 2nd seizing of France since it is told through Joséphine, who had passed away while he was in exile and before that came to pass. I will be curious to see the film as well to see if this could get more awards for the stars and directors because on paper this is Oscar bait, but whether it gets the nomainations and awards will be interesting or if it will suffer the fate of Ridley’s last 2 outings The Last Duel and House of Gucci.
The film is slated for a theatrical release on November 22nd and following a run in theatres it will stream on Apple TV+.
