Parts of Fort Vermilion under evacuation order due to flooding

An evacuation alert issued last week by Mackenzie County is now an order.

Anyone living in the Hamlet of Fort Vermilion east of 50th Street, north of the golf course, River Road and Boreal Housing must leave due to flooding.

The county says emergency crews will be going door-to-door to notify residents, and bus transportation will be provided for anyone without a way to leave.

People are encouraged to grab essentials like: medications, personal documents, blankets and supplied for children and pets.

On Thursday, the county issued an evacuation alter because of an ice jam in the Peace River between Fort Vermilion and Sunny Valley.
