Make sure to do your homework…cause I didn’t
The Marvels is the latest, well, you guessed it, Marvel film we follow Captain Marvel, Captain Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan as their fates, powers, and destinies become intertwined…literally. Since they all share light-based powers they swap places every time they use their powers at the same time. This leads to some shenanigans early on. They are tasked with stopping Dar-Benn who wants to rebuild her home planet by taking resources from others. As we know that’s not going to end well.
The movie is fun, and the cast is great, but like I said earlier if you didn’t do some homework, some things might not land for you as they did for me. You need to have Disney + and have seen Miss Marvel, Secret Invasion and Wanda Vision at the very least. There could even be some more I missed. Watching with some others who had seen these they picked up on some character moments that just flew right over my head.
Despite that, the jokes were fun and the visuals were what you expect out of a Marvel film so it was still a good time. So if you are just looking for a fun superhero film I think it definitely fits the bill.
Overall I wanted to have liked this film more but I felt like I was missing something…(hours of subscription-based TV content) but I thought it was a fine superhero film. You can check out the trailer below if you are still on the fence.
