MD of Fairview Morning Wildfire Update – May 12th

M.D. of Fairview No. 136 Fire (between Range Road 25 and Range Road 32 north of Township Road 824):
– Fire is HELD, but is NOT UNDER CONTROL
– Firefighting efforts are ongoing, with focus on monitoring and extinguishing hot spots and constructing precautionary firebreaks.
The fire danger continues to be EXTREME due to hot, dry weather conditions and little to no forecasted precipitation.
At this time, all people within the boundaries of the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 and the Town of Fairview are advised to continue be prepared as conditions may change rapidly, unpredictably and with little notice. The Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 may issue an evacuation Alert or Order when there is reason to believe you are in danger. Instructions provided in the Alert or Order will depend on the threat.
– Evacuation Alert: Evacuation alerts help you prepare to leave on short notice. Take the actions directed, be prepared to go quickly and monitor trusted sources of information for updates.
– Evacuation Order: Evacuation orders are issued when you are in danger. If you are located inside an order’s boundaries and directed to evacuate, leave the area immediately. Follow all directions from authorities, stay tuned to local trusted sources of information for updates. In serious situations, an evacuation order will be issued without an evacuation alert.
Evacuation Alerts or Orders will be issued on the municipal website and social media and if criteria are met, may be issued using the Alberta Emergency Alert (AEA) system.
