Leo Review

leo

Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie is an animated musical one in which he voices an old classroom pet lizard Leo who comes to realize he is closer his life expectancy and wants to make a difference and experience new things. Sandler is joined by comedian Bill Burr who voices his best friend the class pet turtle Squirtle.

The movie has some great scenes and is a great movie for kids to watch. Leo doesn’t break any new ground but covers a wide variety of things a kid might be going through and different personalities they may have, with a few hitting close to home for me.

Sandler is great in his role as Leo as is Burr as Squirtle as it is a great match for their personalities. With the minor cast Jason Alexander’s turn as Mr. Skin was a home run. The character of Mrs. Malkin was certainly a fitting “villain” for the movie as the substitute teacher for the 5th grade class. It was certainly a unique turn to have so many musical moments for an animated kids film done by Netflix but it was well done.

I think the movie is good for a variety of the ages and parents would enjoy it with the kids as well.

Final Grade: 7.5/10
