Blue-green algae bloom water quality advisories lifted in 27 bodies of water

***AHS News Release***

Recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to such an extent that blue-green algae is no longer a health concern, including in 27 of water bodies in the Alberta Health Services North Zone, which had previously been placed under blue-green algae bloom advisories. 

Effective immediately, AHS has lifted the blue-green algae bloom advisories for: 

  • Nakamun Lake 
  • Winagami Lake 
  • Skeleton Lake 
  • Paddle River Dam Reservoir 
  • Calling Lake 
  • Cold Lake 
  • Lesser Slave Lake 
  • Elinor Lake 
  • Bonnie Lake 
  • Baptiste Lake 
  • Bear Lake 
  • Lac La Nonne 
  • Floating Stone Lake 
  • Hutch Lake 
  • Sturgeon Lake 
  • Lac La Biche 
  • Stoney Lake 
  • Goose Lake 
  • Footner Lake 
  • Lower Mann Lake 
  • Vincent Lake 
  • Upper Mann Lake 
  • Lessard Lake 
  • Thunder Lake 
  • Lower Therien Lake 
  • Moose Lake 
  • Steele (Cross) Lake

AHS has also lifted water quality advisories for: 

  • Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta Beach  
  • Lesser Slave Lake, Marten River Campground Beach 
  • Lac La Biche, Golden Sands Beach and McArthur Beach 
  • Sturgeon Lake, Young’s Point Provincial Park 

As always, visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any recreational body of water, at any time.
