The nominations for The Country Music Alberta Awards were announced last night which feature some local talent getting nominated. Talent from the Peace and Mackenzie nominated include you big names like Tenille Townes, High Valley and Aaron Goodvin but also emerging talent such as Ashley Ghostkeeper, Kat Krys and Kyle McKearney (BC Peace originally). Unfortunately a major oversight happened which led to Wild 94.5 – Medicine Hat being nominated for both small/medium market as well as large, so they were removed from the small/medium contention but are still up for the large market. As this went uncaught until 11am this morning despite pre-recorded video announcements, and an email blast of the nominations. Funny enough they continued to post the video announcement after the issue was raised. Sadly no replacement nomination for the small/medium market coming, which takes away some recognition an honor from a station.
The Horizon Awards are for the emerging artists so there is that separation.
