Wildfires burn near Grande Prairie, near Deadwood

The Warm and dry weather in the Northwest have been fuelling the potential for wildfires, and they’ve hit in the Grande Prairie area.

Evacuation Orders have been issued for areas of Hwy 40, just southwest of the city.

Road blocks, fire crews and emergency personnel have been deployed to the blaze, which reports say, started on Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, unexpected wind gusts allowed the Hutton Creek prescribed burn to escape containment.

The fire, east of Deadwood is now listed as out-of-control, but Alberta Wildfire says there is no danger to nearby communities, at this time.
