Wildfires are continuing to burn in the Peace Region, but officials are starting to gain the upper-hand.

Despite the warm and dry weather, the Wildfire, southwest of Grande Prairie is now classified as Being Held.

Evacuation Orders have been lifted and crews from Peace River were released last night.

Crews from the MD of Smoky River and Northern Sunrise County remain on site.

Meanwhile, the Hutton Creek Fire, east of Deadwood is still listed as Out of Control, but authorities say it is about 90% contained.

Despite the fire being 2,200 hectares in size, officials say the fire is not growing rapidly, and was moving in a Northeast direction, which is away from the river, and Hwy 35.

Crews are continuing to work on both blazes, at this time.
