Our Public Works crews are still working on fixing the water main break at 99th Street, and we are expecting to be able to restore water to the area later this evening.
Once the leak is fixed, crews will remain in the area to wash out the embankment and will set up concrete barricades to secure the area.
A geotechnical team has been engaged to conduct an assessment and provide technical advice for this particular repair as a result of some challenges specific to this location. When the line is done being repaired, access to the area will remain reduced as teams complete clean-up, and we continue to assess road safety.
Most of the road on the river side will be closed during the process. We will be placing concrete barriers, reducing the available area to single-lane traffic for light-duty vehicles only. Please steer clear of the area and river bank, as there are pieces that still appear to be falling.
The geotechnical team has installed slope monitoring equipment to complete their assessment and has provided recommendations for restoring the road.
