The Valleyview RCMP are thrilled to share a remarkable donation to our local RCMP detachment. Former RCMP member Al Carroll generously donated his 1973 Winchester Commemorative RCMP rifle. This rare and historical piece will now be proudly displayed at the Valleyview Detachment, symbolizing the heritage and the enduring spirit of the RCMP.
These rifles hold a special place in RCMP history. In 1973, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Winchester produced a limited-edition series of commemorative rifles. These firearms were exclusively made available to serving RCMP members, making them a treasured piece of law enforcement history.
Al’s donation is not just a gift of a rifle; it’s a gift of heritage, a reminder of the dedication and service of RCMP members past and present. Staff Sergeant Desaulniers and Corporal Woytas were honoured to receive this piece of history on behalf of the Valleyview RCMP Detachment.
Thanks to Terry Peterson, who created a beautiful handmade display case to ensure this piece of history can be put on display in the foyer of the detachment for members of the public to see.
Thank you, Al, for your generous contribution, which helps us keep the RCMP’s legacy alive for future generations.
