A small business or not-for-profit organization has more time to apply for federal funding.
The government announced that the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) deadline has been extended to October 31.
The program was originally supposed to expire on August 31.
Peace River-Westlock MP, Arnold Viersen says the Tories want to get the economy moving in a positive direction.
“We see that the curve has been flattened and hospitals are not overwhelmed so it is time to get the economy up and running again,” says Viersen.
The CEBA program provides interest-free loans of up to $40,000.
Viersen adds that extending the application window can help get people working again.
“With the CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) out there, employers are telling me that it is hard to get people back and we are hopeful that this will give employees an incentive to come back,” he explains.
