“Kenney started talking about that just over a year ago,” he continued. “When he said that, everyone said that it couldn’t be done, that it would take a lot of hard work, and it was a tough road ahead. But he persevered, and he pulled the two parties together.”
Viersen says that Kenney, a former Federal cabinet minister with almost 20 years of parliamentary experience, is the right person to bring back the Alberta advantage.
“(Former Wildrose leader) Brian Jean is the only other guy I know in the race,” he said. “I don’t know (Doug Schweitzer) at all. I do wish them both the best in the race. I feel that they both bring significant talent to the race as well. But as for me, I am backing Jason Kenney.”
The UCP leadership vote is set to take place on October 28. 2017.
