Viersen Comments On Federal Election Possibility

The end of the supply and confidence agreement between the federal Liberals and NDP has fueled speculation of a federal election happening soon.

Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen says the Conservatives will be pushing the NDP to try and have a non-confidence vote in the House of Commons.

“It’s frustrating that the NDP have propped up Trudeau. For the last two years we’ve seen ballooning housing costs, the cost of living going up everywhere, and the carbon tax continues to drive inflation across the country. Jagmeet Singh has propped up the Liberal government the whole way along. I don’t know what happened now that he’s doing this, but we’re happy to hear about it.”

The Liberal minority government had the deal with the NDP that was supposed to last until June 2025.

Many Conservatives, including Viersen, have been calling for a “carbon tax election.”

“Everybody is recognizing that the carbon tax isn’t working. It’s just making everybody poorer and not having any positive effect and so we’re calling on Jagmeet Singh to reverse his support for the carbon tax and we hope to have a carbon tax election.”

Viersen says that he’ll be “ready to go” if an election does end up getting called.
