Elianna’s project, “From Crises to Catalysts: Harnessing Algae’s Power with a Cost-Effective, Buoyant Biophotovoltaic,” explores using algae’s photosynthetic processes to generate sustainable energy.

Alongside Elianna, fellow student Hannah Klinck represented the school with her project, “Two Stage Water Treatment for the Removal of E. coli Using Moringa oleifera and Kaolin Clay.”

Science teacher Mrs. Kathryn Gauthier, who attended the event, expressed immense pride in both students, stating, “Competing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair is already a major accomplishment — bringing home a medal is an extraordinary achievement.”

In addition to her bronze medal, Elianna was awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and a $1,000 scholarship to Western University in Ontario.
