Alberta is experiencing an unprecedented year for wildfires, and the Town of Valleyview has not been spared from this fire activity. The wildfires surrounding our community in the past two weeks have challenged our local fire department, placing extraordinary pressure on our resources and manpower.

At this time, fireguards are being constructed around Valleyview as a proactive measure. Our department, along with Alberta Forestry, continue to monitor the fire activity closely and are providing the Town of Valleyview Emergency Operations Centre with daily updates.

Fire crews remain prepared to respond locally, within the Town and MD areas, when called upon, and have access to mutual aid support from other agencies.

As a third generation firefighter serving the Town of Valleyview, I would like to take this time to acknowledge our members of the Valleyview Fire Department for their dedication and determination in fighting the wildfires that threaten our community. I would also like to recognize the families and friends of our firefighters for their support and understanding in these stressful times.
