MAY 6 @ 1:18PM – The wildfire is moving west parallel to Township Road 740. Since there is the potential for danger to life and health, Big Lakes County has ordered residents of Gilwood located between Highway 749 west to Range Road 185 and from Township Road 730 north to Township Road 740 to evacuate immediately.
If you are in the following areas, you must prepare to evacuate. The areas involved are as follows:
Highway 749 west to Range Road 185 and from Township Road 730 north to Township Road 740
Bring pets, important documents, medication, and supplies for 3 days. Everyone evacuating should go to the Elks Rodeo Hall north of the Town of High Prairie at 74508 on Highway 749 to register.
Further instructions will be given to those directly impacted. Citizens are to monitor www.biglakescounty.ca, the Big Lakes County Facebook page, and the Alberta Emergency Alert website for additional information.
