McLennan RCMP have charged two people after investigating a property theft in the MD of Smoky River.
Officers received a call about two males who were seen stealing batteries and copper wire from a farm yard.
When the suspects were caught, they drove through several crops before dumping their vehicle off near a river and going on foot.
Police later found the two and arrested them and they also found some methamphetamine and items that were stolen from another break and enter.
The two suspects, Richard Benson (40) from Falher and Brett Laramore (36) from Peace River, will appear in court on September 3.
They’ve been charged with break and enter, 5 counts of mischief, theft over five thousand dollars, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
