May 22 2023 – With the higher temperatures yesterday we experienced some increased fire activity near the Cenovus plant and in the West End. The Cenovus facilities still look good, and containments remain effective. Within Town, we had no incursions or threats. This has allowed us to release our re-entry information booklet on our website www.rainbowlake.ca, with valuable information for our residents to review before, during and after the re-entry day. It is our hope to release the re-entry plans, including future dates for re-entry, tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday. These dates will be subject to change based on the conditions.
Work will be commencing today, beginning to take down sprinklers from houses in those areas inside our perimeter line (Evergreen/Tokay). Tomorrow and Wednesday will see more of the phased demobilization of our structure protection deployment as we take care not to move too far too fast.
Atco is working on the removal of trees from the power lines working towards the restoration of power to the Town of Rainbow Lake. Atco is being supported by Alberta Wildfire and our Fire crew, actioning hot spots along that restoration area, and ensuring everything is completed as safely as possible.
Please stay safe and we will continue to push out daily updates here and on our Town of Rainbow Lake Facebook page.
