The Town of Peace River is looking for community input to decide the future of the Al Adair Recreation Centre. The building has been closed since August 31st. At last night’s meeting, council decided to pass a motion calling for requests for proposal. Other options on the table included: selling the property, leasing it, as well as maintaining the building and repurposing it for a future use.
In the end, council felt getting ideas from the public was the best way forward according to Community Services Director, Tanya Bell. “It is an opportunity for the community at-large to explore and present to the town various options of how they would want to repurpose, reuse the building, purchase the building,” says Bell. “Whatever the situation may be, it is an opportunity.”
Bell says the town will formally issue a request for proposal in the New Year; likely sometime in February.
