Harvest season is underway, as farmers get their crops into the bin.
The Canadian Grain Commission recently put out an article on farmers monitoring grain temperature and grain aeration, after going into the bin.
The importance of turning it, and keeping high temperatures and moisture away from the grain is also covered.
The risk of rapid growth of insects, fungi and the possible production of mycotoxins is present, that will possibly reduce price and quality of grains.
The Program Manager of Infestation Control and Sanitation for Industry Services with the Canadian Grain Commission, is Brent Elliott.
