TELUS Communications reports that customers in Northwest Alberta are experiencing disruptions in wireline and wireless services due to cable damage caused by unrelated construction work in the Town of Valleyview on the afternoon of January 8.

The affected areas include Valleyview, Debolt, Sturgeon Lake, Fox Creek, and Little Smokey, impacting home phone, 911 landline, mobile data, mobile text, and mobile voice services.

TELUS has dispatched service technicians to repair the damage, but there is currently no estimated time for service restoration.

The company advises that fallback coverage for 911 calls is available through an alternate carrier.

To enable this wireless fallback connection, customers should set their device network to automatic and allow time for the connection to establish before retrying.
