  1. The Northland School Division is looking back on 2025 as one with renewed optimism. This after seeing graduation and attendance numbers up in the past few years.(Cal Johnson interview in Separate story)
  2. The Provincial Government is funding 16 new and 4 improved collegiate schools to offer students training and pathways to in-demand jobs.
    The High Prairie School Division for their Pathways School, and the Northland Collegiate School in the Northland School Division are benefactors.
  3. Making more services available in rural communities is on the province’s list of priorities.
    Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services, Jason Nixon, says some campaigns will be launched soon on raising awareness on the opportunities available outside the big cities. (Interview in separate story)
  4. The Eaglesham and District Ag. Society is receiving a financial reward for local youth. The Society has won $5,000 for third place in the Growing Home with BASF promotion.
    The initiative provides youth with safety education, community events, and educational opportunities for young rural residents.
  5. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set in Cleveland tonight… The Jays go with a bullpen day to start as Eric Lauer starts against Logan Allen.
  6. The NHL Hall of Fame class is being announced this afternoon, and the NHL Draft goes this weekend, with some interesting rumours floating around.
    A lot are interested in what Connor McDavid is doing entering the final year of his current deal in Edmonton, after back-to-back Stanley Cup finals losses to the Florida Panthers.
  7. Chance of showers this afternoon with a risk of a T-Storm is forecasted for the Northwest. Highs are in the high teens to the low 20’s, with lows tonight around 10.
    The Peace and Big Lakes could clear out as we head into the self-induced long weekend, but the Mackenzie could see some much-needed shower activity.
