- Fires are continuing to burn in Northwestern Alberta. The newest EVAC order is in the MD of Greenview, between the Smoky River and the Forestry Trunk road, between KM 70 and 126 south of DeBolt.
- The Peace River Pride Society is set to host its annual Pride Walk this weekend in Peace River.
As part of the celebrations, a rainbow crosswalk was painted near Kinsmen Park. However, social media reports suggest that the crosswalk was vandalized shortly after its completion. - Elianna Eagles, a student at St. Stephen’s School in Valleyview, won a bronze medal at the Canada-wide Science Fair in Fredrickton, New Brunswick.
- Alberta Agriculture says the planting is at 97%, which is still 10 percentage points ahead of the five-year average.
- The town of High Level has a new Director of Finance. Roy Amalu was appointed to the position at the end of May.
- After being based in Grande Prairie for years, a new office is open in Peace River to help deal with Mental Health issues.
The Canadian Mental Health Association has opened a new sub-office in the downtown. (Randy Arsenault interview in separate story) - The Toronto Blue Jays play the second of a three-game set in St. Louis tonight. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Miles Mikolas.
- The Stanley Cup final needs a couple of days for the players to cool off, following last night’s out-of-hand third period, where the teams combined for 140 minutes in penalties.
Game 4 is Thursday in Florida, with the Panthers leading the Oilers 2-1. - Smoke, winds and a high UV ratings are the order of the afternoon in the Northwest. Highs are around 20 degrees, with lows tonight between 5 and 10.
The Peace and Big Lakes could get wet by Friday.
