- Progress was made last week, as the Swan Hills fire was downgraded to Being Held, and the EVAC Order for the area, was lifted.
In the meantime, the Red Earth Creek fires, the Hawk Hills fire, and the Dene Tha fire in Chateh continue to be Out of Control, with EVAC orders and Alerts still in effect. - Wildfires and fire risk across northern and central Alberta are keeping fire bans in place in several areas.
Alberta’s Forest Protection Area is under a fire ban, as are communities in the Peace Country. - Energy Alberta is making a presentation to Peace River Town Council tonight. Energy Alberta is the main company behind the idea of the Peace River Nuclear Power Project.
Public feedback was received in a survey during April and May, and the next steps are in the works for this project. - More confirmed cases of the Measles has popped up in Northwestern Alberta. Cases last week included in La Crete and four separate occasions in Fort Vermilion.
- A number of officials have been working on address the concerns in Peace River around crime and vagrancy.
MLA Dan Williams says a lot of collaboration has happened between himself and several local groups in dealing with this issue. (Interview in separate story) - Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight, weather permitting… Grimshaw is in Manning, the Huskies are 4-2, the Mets are 2-3.
Also, Grande Prairie is in Sexsmith, The Brewers are 2-2, the Rainiers are 3-2. - Stanley Cup Final tonight… Game 3 – Edmonton is in Florida, the series is tied 1-1.
- The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set in St. Louis tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Andre Pallante.
- Smoke and wind are in the forecast for this afternoon in the Northwest. Warnings and statements are in place for the Region, with highs around 20 degrees.
Lows tonight are comfortable at around 9, except for a chilly 4 in the Peace. It could get wet in the Peace and Big Lakes this weekend.
