- Fairview RCMP have successfully found a missing child. Reports indicate a 2 year-old went missing from a residence in Clear Hills County yesterday evening.
The child was spotted about a kilometer away from their residence early this morning, was found to be in good health, and was reunited with their family. - Fire crews in Peace River responded to a blaze at the Ground Level Youth Center on Friday afternoon.
Before-hand, eyewitnesses reported a female was seen screaming and throwing rocks at vehicles in the area.
38 year-old Marie Dawn Thomas of Peace River faces mischief and arson charges. - Fairview RCMP have a man in custody after a warrant was served in Bluesky.
Police received a complaint of an assault on Tuesday, and the warrant searched two RV trailers and vehicles on Wednesday of last week.
38 year-old Luke Anderson of Clear Hills County faces 18 charges. - Peace Regional Police have charged three people after a traffic stop downtown.
On Wednesday night, the vehicle owner, bound by curfew conditions, was pulled over and a sawed-off shotgun was found.
22 year-old Kaitlin Sinclair, and 34 year-old Russell Pasquan, both of Peace River, have court dates this month. - Alberta Health Services says measles exposures happened at the Wal-Mart in Peace River on the afternoon of May 2 and Peace River Community Health Centre Emergency Department during the evening of May 4.
Cases are also confirmed in the Valleyview Health Center during the afternoon of May 4th, as well as the evening hours of May 5th. - A 21-month investigation into “Access to Information” requests with Provincial Government bodies, has found Alberta non-compliant.
The incidents stem from articles written in publications in 2023, where it was found the Government refused access requests, hence the judgement of non-compliance. - Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign has been garnered as a success. Charities in the Peace Region benefitted from the delicious treat purchases.
In all, over $95,000 was raised at the five locations of the Tim’s in Northwestern Alberta. - NHL playoffs tonight… Game 4 – Las Vegas is in Edmonton, the Oilers lead 2-1. Game 4 – Washington is in Carolina, the Hurricanes lead 2-1.
- The World Hockey championships continue in Sweden and Denmark. Canada is 2-0 at the tournament thus far, and play tomorrow against France.
- The Toronto Blue Jays are flying back home after going 4-2 on their recent west coast swing. The Jays play the start of a three-game set tomorrow against Tampa Bay.
- A slight chance of showers in the Northwest forecast this afternoon. Highs are a little varied, between the mid teens and low 20’s.
Lows tonight are around 5, with that same slight chance of showers. Temps cool off come the middle of the week, but bounce back towards the long weekend.
