- Valleyview RCMP are in the process of locating a missing person. 71 year-old Marc Roy was last seen early this morning driving off in a brown 2008 Volvo.
- 911 services in Northwestern Alberta are back up and running, but through partner agencies.
A Telus Outage happened yesterday afternoon, and authorities are still investigating. - The federal election yesterday has produced another minority government for the Liberals.
Here in our region, Arnold Viersen was re-elected for the Conservatives in Peace River-Westlock, and Chris Warkentin in Grande Prairie. (Interviews in separate stories) - The Peace River School Division has decided to close Dixonville School, effective the end of this school year.
In a vote of 5-1, the decision was made after consideration of declining enrollment, long-term sustainability, and community feedback. - More Measles cases have surfaced in Peace River, as possible exposures took place during the Easter Long Weekend.
AHS says that exposure times were detected at the Emergency of the Peace River Health Center on April 19 from 9pm to 1am, and on April 21 from 3:30am to 7am. - Officials all across the country are sending condolences to the nation’s Filipino community following the Lapu Lapu Day tragedy in Vancouver.
- The Town of Peace River is mourning the loss of former Mayor Tom Tarpey. He was first elected as a town councillor in 2010 then became the mayor in 2013.
- NHL playoffs… Game 5 – Edmonton is in LA, the series is tied 2-2. Game 5 – Ottawa is in Toronto, the Leafs lead the series 3-1. Game 5 – New Jersey is in Carolina, the Hurricanes lead 3-1. Game 5 – Minnesota is in Las Vegas, the series is tied 2-2.
- The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set at home to Boston tonight.
- Today is draft day in the CFL. The Global Draft was this morning, where teams had two rounds to select global players.
The regular CFL draft is tonight for Canadian college and university players. The Calgary Stampeders hold the first pick, after having the leagues worst record last season. - A mix of sun and cloud is in the skies of the Peace and Big Lakes today, while rain falls in the Mackenzie.
Highs this afternoon are in the mid teens, with lows tonight around 5. Skies clear out later this week, and temps will be boosted to perhaps the mid 20’s by Friday.
