- Investigations are underway into a fire at the Zavisha Sawmill in Hines Creek on the weekend.
Authorities say the blaze started on Saturday morning, but was brought under control within a few hours. - Northern Sunrise County has contributed $800,000 to the Hot Tub replacement project, for within the Peace Regional Pool.
Add that to the nearly $850,000 that the town has allotted for the project, the town is saying the replacement project will go ahead. - The Fort Vermilion School Division and Northwestern Polytechnic have teamed up to connect education opportunities.
The two institutions have agreed to enable Division students to enroll in the Bachelor of Education degree program. - Members of the Board of the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division recently met with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, and Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides.
The Board was advocating for a new school to replace St. Andrew’s in High Prairie. - The provincial government has been facing criticism over it’s handling in the outbreaks of the measles. (Clips in Separate story)
- Advanced Polls run from 9am-9pm today, as the general election takes place next Monday.
Check your Voter Card, as to where to cast your ballot, and ID is needed. - Three games in the NHL playoffs today. Game 1 – Edmonton is in LA, Game 2 – St. Louis is in Winnipeg, and Game 2 – Colorado is in Dallas.
- The Toronto Blue Jays hit the road and play three in Houston starting tonight. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Hunter Brown.
- The sun will try and peak through the clouds this afternoon in the Northwest. Highs are in the low teens, with lows tonight still below freezing.
The sun makes more of an appearance as the week rolls along. Digits will also get slightly warmer as well.
