  1. Three people, including one from High Prairie, have been killed and another is clinging to life after a two-vehicle crash in the County of Lac La Biche on Thursday night.
    Police indicate an SUV and a pickup truck collided head-on on Hwy 55.
  2. High Prairie RCMP have a resident from Atikameg in custody facing 16 charges and 26 warrants.
    At a residence in Atikameg, police arrested 24 year-old Jack George Auger, who tried to flee on a quad, but was caught after he got stuck in a snowbank.
  3. High Prairie RCMP have a resident from Atikameg in custody facing 19 charges and 29 warrants.
    Police raided a forested area near Atikameg, and located 28 year-old Jericho Boyd Grey, but he fled on foot. Police dog Peyak tracked Grey to a residence.
  4. The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has formed Ad Hoc Committees for two big events happening.
    A committee has been formed to advocate further for a new St. Andrew’s school in High Prairie. Another has been formed to plan the future of St. Thomas More School in Fairview.
  5. Pushback continues to mount over possible coal mining on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
    The NDP’s Environment Critic, Dr. Sarah Elmeligi, says there’s a few different methods they’re looking at to go against this decision by the province. (Interview in Separate Story)

  8. For the second time in three years, Nampa’s Kayla Skrlik will represent Alberta at the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship.
    Skrlik had a hit-and-stick for one in the 10th to defeat Nicky Kaufman of Edmonton to win provincials in Rimbey this past weekend.
    The Scotties start Valentine’s Day in Thunder Bay.
  9. Fishing season is in place for today, with the chinook in effect, but tomorrow, mother nature is starting to bring winter back.
    Highs this afternoon under pleasant skies will be pushing 10 degrees, but the digits will start cooling off, snow will be falling, as early as tomorrow night.
    Temps in the -20’s as highs will be present by the weekend.
