  1. Optimism for the Peace Region rose significantly with the recent announcement of the new “Wonder Valley” AI Data Centre Project, slated for the MD of Greenview.
    Many jurisdictions are weighing in with excitement to have this project being built, to being in operation. (Dan Williams Interview in separate story)
  2. Some people are in the process of putting Christmas away for the year, and various municipalities are doing thier part to help.
    Disposal bins for real Christmas trees are being placed around the area until mid January to place trees into.
  3. A proposal to extend the charitable donation deadline has some Alberta non-profits and charities feeling more optimistic after a challenging fundraising season.
    The proposal by the federal government would extend the deadline to the end of February so Canadians could still claim donations on their 2024 tax returns.
  4. Two Alberta ministers are going to Texas to meet with police and justice officials and share ideas and strategies for public safety.
    Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis and Justice Minister Mickey Amery say they could use what they learn in developing future policies or programs.

  6. NPHL this weekend… Tonight, Manning is at High Prairie, Fox Creek is at Valleyview, and Grande Prairie is at Spirit River.
    Tomorrow, Manning is at Spirit River, Valleyview is at Dawson Creek, and High Prairie is at FSJ.
  7. AEHL this weekend… The U-13’s play tomorrow and Sunday in Fort McMurray. The U-15’s play tomorrow in Grande Prairie. The U-18’s play Sunday at home to Edmonton.
  8. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tomorrow at home to Edson.
  9. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tonight in Lloydminster, and tomorrow and Sunday at Fort McMurray.
  10. Extreme Cold Warnings are in effect in the Peace and Mackenzie, but will likely diappear before, if not during the weekend.
    Highs this afternoon are in the -20’s will lows staying consistant.
    A little snow is expected tonight and tomorrow in the Big Lakes, but digits will start to warm up Monday night and into Tuesday of next week.
