  1. Many jurisdictions around the Northwest are approving budgets for 2025.

  2. The MD of Peace has approved grant donations for six different non-profit organizations in the area.
    Council has also approved their preliminary budget of $6.4 million dollars for 2025.
  3. Berwyn Council is pursuing an appraisal of the property and has enlisted a real estate agent to list the arena.
  4. Returning and deputy returning officers are starting to appointed for the 2025 municipal elections.
    Nomination periods are beginning in the new year, with general elections taking place in October.
  5. Winter has set into the Northwest, which may get some times recreating outdoors.

  6. Although Canada Post employees are back at work, operations are far from normal and delivery delays are expected into the new year.
    The Canada Industrial Relations Board determined negotiations between the Crown and the Union were in a stalemate and ordered employees back to work under their existing contracts.

  8. A trade in the CFL yesterday… Montreal sent quarterback Cody Fajardo to the Edmonton Elks in exchange for quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson.
    The trade is essentially is a swap of backup quarterbacks as both teams have recently committed long-term to young starters.
  9. Four-time Brier winner Kevin Martin is among 88 new appointments to Order of Canada.Martin won Olympic gold in 2010 in Vancouver.
  10. Snow is falling in the Peace and Big Lakes this afternoon, and the cold continues for at least the next 36 hours. Highs are around -20, except for -27 in the Mackenzie.
    Extreme cold warnings are still in effect in the Peace and Mackenzie, but has since been cancelled in the Big Lakes. Digits are expected to warm up as the weekend approaches.
