  1. Fairview RCMP have two in custody after reports of B&E’s happening at a commercial site in Clear Hills County.
    A 52 year-old man from Benzanson, and a 46 year-old man from Dawson Creek each face B&E, plus possession charges.
  2. The RCMP is warning the public about a text scam circulating in the Peace region and throughout the province.
    Police have received reports of the scam involving texts being received stating their vehicle has been caught speeding.
  3. The town and the MD of Fairview are welcoming new doctors to the region. The Fairview Medical Clinic has three new physicians on staff.
    The Fairview Health Center has been under stress in 2024, with Doctor shortages, and closures of the Emergency Department on a frequent basis.
  4. Getting more renewable power generation on the grid has been behind some changes to the electricity market in the province.
    Many discussions have happened locally around nuclear power, and Affordability and Utilities Minister Nathan Neudorf says they’re working to have regulations for it in place, should Albertans want it. (Interview in separate story)
  5. Former premier Rachel Notley is quitting her seat in the legislature and says her future does not include jumping into the federal political arena.
    Notley announced she is resigning as the MLA for Edmonton-Strathcona on December 30.
  6. NWJHL tonight… Fort St. John is in Fairview, and Beaverlodge is in Sexsmith.
    The North Peace Navigators play in La Crete tomorrow and Sunday.
  7. NPHL this weekend… Valleyview is in Manning tonight.
    Tomorrow, Falher is in Valleyview, Fort St. John is in High Prairie for Teddy Bear toss night, and Manning is in Grande Prairie.
  8. AEHL this weekend…The U-13’s are off, The U-15’s play tomorrow in High Prairie, and Sunday in Falher, The U-18’s play Sunday in High Prairie.
  9. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight at home to Mayerthorpe, and tomorrow in Lac La Biche.
  10. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tonight at home to Canmore.
  11. A mix of Sun and cloud is in the skies of the Northwest this afternoon, with highs are just below zero. Cloud cover rolls in tonight and snow starts before dawn tomorrow.
    5-10 cm is expected in the Peace and Mackenzie, with light snow in the Big Lakes. The snow will stop on Sunday, but the digits cool down, starting on Monday.
