- Police in High Level are saying speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a single-vehicle rollover last Wednesday evening.
Reports say the two occupants suffered from serious but non life-threatening injuries, even though the passenger was ejected from the vehicle. - Repairs and upgrades are continuing at the Fairview Aquatic Center. Assessments are also in the works on the main HVAC unit.
Town Council was advised that the Stair upgrades are almost complete, with just some tiling needed before the slide re-opens. - Peace River Rotaract has a proposal in the works. Initials ideas were presented to the town of Peace River for a new Sub-Zero Skateway.
Rotaracts’ vision is to create a space where families, couples, can go for a skate through a winter wonderland. - The town of Valleyview is discontinuing a major part of their recycling program. As of January 1st, COMMERCIAL cardboard collection is being cancelled.
Businesses using this service have until New Year’s Eve to arrange for their own services. - The Peace Valley Snow Riders are being recognized for their safe practices and their development of the activity.
The Snowmobile Club has won the Mighty Peace Zone Club of the Year award for the fifth time.
The Club was awarded for developing formal snowmobile trails to direct snowmobilers to areas of acceptable use in the area. - The provincial government is seeking contractors to restore hundreds of kilometres of land where fireguards were created during the 2023 wildfire season.
The work focuses on sites where large wildfires burned near Edson, and in the High Level forest area. - NWJHL Three stars this week…

It will be -9 in the Mackenzie, -5 in the Peace and +1 in the Big Lakes. Snow will be hitting the regions tonight and tomorrow as well with build-up of 2-4 cm expected.
