  1. High Prairie RCMP have provided an update on the Heavy Police situation that happened in Grouard this morning.
    Officers say that they have taken one suspect into custody.
  2. Remembrance Day ceremonies are happening on Monday all over the Peace Region.
    More information is on the Community Calendar.
  3. National Indigenous Veterans Day was observed with a ceremony at the Treaty 8 Monument in Peace River.

  4. Students across the Northwest are partaking in Remembrance Day services today at school. (Melissa Reimer Interview on App)
    One place that is having more than one event happening is Grimshaw Public School, where services and “A night in the Trenches” happens during the weekend.
  5. West Coast Scaffolding, based in Sturgeon County, has been fined $350,000, after pleading guilty to a count of failing to ensure the health and safety of a worker.
    Authorities say a worker was dismantling scaffolding at the PR Pulp Mill when they fell from a height and suffered fatal injuries.
  6. The “Danger Cats” Show is not happening this weekend at the Athabasca Hall.
    This was due to the history of offensive remarks and content, especially in regards to Indigenous issues during the show.
  7. Provincial officials are doing their review on the wildfire season we had in Alberta.
    Todd Loewen, the Minister of Forestry and Parks, says one thing they want to have more of prior to next season is getting communities more prepared.
  8. Project Peace is presenting Hockey night in Grimshaw for Men’s Mental Health. Two games take place on Sunday at Mile Zero, with the doors opening at 5:00.
  9. Local Football this weekend…Provincial Quarter-finals happen tomorrow in 9-a-side high school football.
    Valleyview plays in Drayton Valley with the winner playing in Peace River next weekend. Also Ponoka plays in Whitecourt with the winner playing in Wainwright next weekend.
  10. NWJHL tonight… North Peace is in Fort St. John and Sexsmith is in Grande Prairie
  11. NPHL tomorrow… Grande Prairie is in Valleyview, High Prairie is in Dawson Creek, Manning is in Fort St. John, and Fox Creek is in Spirit River.
  12. AEHL this weekend… The U-13’s play tomorrow in Fort St. John and Sunday in Falher. The U-15’s play tomorrow in Grande Prairie. The U-18’s play tomorrow and Sunday at home to Fort McMurray.
  13. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight in Gibbons and tomorrow at home to Gibbons.
  14. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tonight in Lloydminster, and tomorrow in Bonnyville.
  15. Today is the last of almost summer-like temperatures in the Northwest, under a mix of Sun and cloud.
    Highs this afternoon are a wide range from 4 in the Mackenzie, to 9 in the Big Lakes, to 13 in the Peace. Lows tonight will be around zero, except for -8 in the Peace.
    Cooler weather happens this long weekend, including snow scheduled for Monday.
