  • Timeline for the completion of the Peace River Bridge bumped to next year.
    Both bridges COULD be open this winter, with the arch bridge closed again next summer to finish the project.
  • Plans are in place to pave from Roma Drive to Grimshaw Corner, from the start of Judah Hill through to the Marie Reine area, and Highway 743 (Weberville) to the junction of 986. These are expected to be completed next summer.
  • The Peace River Art Club was awarded $7500 from town council last night.
    It comes out of the grants to organizations fund.
    The Underground Music Society was also given $700.
  • Day two of the Premiers meeting in Winnipeg.
    Major topics being discussed include Healthcare Issues, Infrastructure, Economy, Housing, Cost of Living.
  • Assembly of First Nations gathers in Halifax today through Thursday.
    They’ll be setting the date for election of new chief to represent the more than 600 First Nations in Canada.
  • Survey says that nearly half of Canadians have lost sleep due to financial stress.
    More than half are $200 away or less, from not being able to pay their bills.

    Once again it’s the Grimshaw Huskies and Manning Mets going head to head, for a shot at moving on to play the top-seeded Peace River Stampeders.
    Rycroft and Grande Prairie will be the other semifinal match-up.
  • Pre-Qualified Brier teams have been announced.
