  1. The Sagitawa Native Friendship Center is receiving grant money from the Provincial Government.
    The grant is to provide transportation service to individuals released from the Peace River Correctional Center.
  2. Organizations like STARS, Alberta Wildfire, and airport authorities have had issues with drones being flown near aircraft areas, especially drones with laser pointers.
    Authorities are reminding people with drones that that legal action can be taken against individuals, if problems persist.
  3. The opposition NDP has some questions for the provincial government around the restructuring of the health care system.

  4. The supply and confidence deal between the federal Liberals and NDP has been ended, substantially increasing the chances of a federal election.
    The move puts PM Justin Trudeau’s minority at risk of falling at any time if it loses any confidence votes, which could trigger a snap election as soon as this fall.
  5. One day before a governance agreement between the Alberta government, Legal Aid Alberta and the Law Society of Alberta was set to expire, a new five-year deal has been announced between the three parties.
    The previous agreement expired on June 30, prompting a number of legal organizations to warn that Legal Aid Alberta may be forced to stop offering services to new clients because of the lack of a deal.
  6. As the Bank of Canada cuts its interest rate for the third straight time, one real estate expert says it could help homeowners and buyers alike, but not right away.
    The central bank slashed its overnight rate by 25 basis points to 4.25 per cent on Wednesday.
  7. A hockey coach in Fairview has been honoured provincially. Darren Gnam of the Fairview U15 Falcons has been named Hockey Alberta’s Coach of the Year for 2024.
    Gnam structures practices to ensure everyone has fun while learning the skills of the game, which created an environment that kept athletes involved in the sport.
