  1. The blockade and standoff between Obsidian Energy and the Woodland Cree First nation has been resolved.
    The agreement in principle ends months of talks, protests and disputes between the two parties over possible expansion plans on traditional territory.
  2. An update on the Shelter in Place in Fox Lake from yesterday. Police say a shooting took place at a barge line-up, where a man suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
    Authorities are looking for a suspect, witnesses, and more information on the case. A Shelter in Place was ordered, but lifted a few hours later.
  3. Council meetings are happening tonight. In Grimshaw, decisions on Handrails at Mile Zero, Paving Contracts, and the Water Operator agreement will be made.
    In Manning, decisions on the Water Conservation Bylaw, and a tree removal request will be made. Big Lakes County and the MD of Smoky River met this morning.
  4. The Town of High Level is looking for public input on their airport, and air passenger service.
    An online survey has been published to help with possible demand for air travel from the High Level Airport.
  5. The Provincial Government is progressing with the establishment of Recovery Albert and the Canadian Center of Recovery Excellence.
    The organizations were proposed in April to help improve mental health and addiction care, as part of the refocused healthcare system.
  6. Weather permitting, there are two games in the Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Rycroft is in Peace River and Sexsmith is in Grande Prairie.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays have traded Cavan Biggio to the Dodgers for minor league pitcher Braydon Fisher. The Jays are playing the rubber match of their three-game set in Milwaukee this afternoon.
  8. Game three of the NBA finals goes tonight. Boston is in Dallas, with the Celtics up 2-0.
  9. The NBA is mourning the loss of a hall-of-famer. Jerry West was a noted point guard and executive, mainly in Los Angeles.
    He was a nine-time NBA champion, but he only won it once as a player. Known as “The Logo” for his silhouette of the NBA Logo, Jerry West passed away earlier this morning at 86 years of age.
  10. Rain is the order of the rest of the week in the Northwest, as Mother Nature will be moisturizing the landscape until Saturday night in the Peace, until Friday in the Mackenzie, and until Saturday in the Big Lakes.
    Digits will be around the mid teens today and around 10 degrees tonight. Skies will clear off and begin to dry out come the weekend.
