    The cause, the damages, and potential injuries are still unknown at this time.
  2. With fires burning and the May long weekend approaching, Alberta Wildfire officials are urging people to be cautious.

    Christie Tucker, information unit manager with Alberta Wildfire, says wildfire information officers have been busy trying to educate people about being more “fire smart”.
  4. The Peace and Mackenzie remain under special air quality statements as the smoke continues to blow through the region.
    The Alberta Lung Association warns that asthmatics and anyone with COPD are at higher risk of attack, so keeping inhalers handy is the order of this week.
  5. The Rural Municipalities of Alberta is calling a new bill an affront to municipal authority and another example of the province’s overreach into local decision-making.
    The legislation would allow the province to take over emergency management in a municipality if local leaders ask for help, are overwhelmed or if the fire crosses into multiple jurisdictions.
  6. The Peace Region Energy Show takes place Wednesday and Thursday at Evergreen Park, and the excitement is there.

  12. Air Quality Statements are remaining in place in the Peace and Mackenzie. The Smoke has cleared up a little, but cooler temperatures are here for this afternoon.
    The Northwest could see some rain fall tonight, and into tomorrow, which would help with the fire situation.
