  1. An increase to the Federal Carbon Tax and the Provincial Fuel Tax was expected to take effect today.
    Gas Prices in the Peace Region has been steadily increasing for the past week-and-a-half.  Prices right now range from $1.48 in Peace River to $1.76 in High Level.
  2. Alberta Health Services says Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department will be without physician from today through to NEXT Monday, April 8.
    There were several days last week where there wasn’t a doctor on site and it has been a recurring issue for months now.
  3. The provincial government is working on getting more support provided to women’s shelters.
    $5 million to create more spaces in Fairview, Children and Family Services Minister Searle Turton says there is a desire for more longer term solutions. (Interview on App)
  4. People preparing to see partial solar eclipse on Monday next week.
  5. Teams will begin to arrive today for the Provincial Junior B Hockey championships in Peace River this weekend.
    The Navigators will host La Crete, Wainwright, St. Albert, Okotoks, and Calgary for the tournament, which starts Wednesday at the Baytex Energy Center.
  6. Three Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight… Edmonton is in St. Louis, LA”s in Winnipeg, and Florida is in Toronto.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays begin a three-game set in Houston tonight. Bowden Francis starts for the Jays against Ronel Blanco.
  8. Weather is looking good today in Northwestern Alberta, with lots of sunshine in store.
    Digits are around the 10-degree mark and will be warmer for tomorrow. There maybe a spot or two of rain falling Tuesday night into Wednesday.
