  1. Council meetings are happening today…
    Birch Hills County, Clear Hills County, Northern Sunrise County, the MD of Peace, the MD of Fairview, the MD of Greenview, the town of High Prairie.
  2. The Grande Prairie and District Catholic School Division is looking to fill two trustee positions. Ward 1 in the city, and Ward 3 in Fairview.
    Nominations for the Ward 3 position will close at the end of April, with the election held on May 28.
  3. Health care continues to be a very hot topic here in the Peace Region and across the province of Alberta.
    Several communities in the region, most notably in Fairview, have been dealing with doctor shortages in recent months. (Adriana LaGrange interview on App)
  4. There are calls for Alberta to improve access to publicly funded measles vaccines, by allowing pharmacists to provide them.
    Canadian health officials recently began urging people to ensure they’re protected, especially before travelling, as cases surge in Europe and parts of Canada as well.
  5. Edmonton MLA Rakhi Pancholi no longer believes it’s she who should be the Alberta NDP’s next leader, but Naheed Nenshi.
    The representative for Edmonton-Whitemud on Tuesday announced she was quitting the leadership race to support Calgary’s former mayor.
  6. With both King Charles, and the Princess of Wales absent as they undergo treatment for cancer, Prince William (the future King William V) has come under the media and public spotlight.
  7. NPHL Finals tonight… Game 7, Spirit River is in Falher. The Rangers last won in 2017, the Pirates last won in 2012.
  8. NJHL finals tonight… Game 1, High Prairie is in Edson.
  9. Five Canadian teams in action in the NHL tonight… Edmonton is in Winnipeg, Calgary is in Chicago, New Jersey is in Toronto, and Montreal is in Colorado.
  10. A mix of sun and cloud is in the forecast for Northwest Alberta today. Highs are just above freezing, except for 8 degrees in the Peace.
    However, the Big Lakes is getting around 5 cm of snow beginning around midnight tonight, and will end just after noon tomorrow.
