  1. Two people from Grande Prairie are facing a slew of charges after allegedly stealing mail from multiple mailboxes over a six-week span.
    Police say between December 14th and January 22nd, the accused were involved in 27 thefts from different mailboxes across the city.
  2. $390 million dollars over five years has been invested by the Provincial Government into High-Speed Broadband.
    The federal Government has matched with a $780 million-dollar investment into High-Speed in rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
    14 projects in Alberta, including 4 the Peace, Big Lakes, and Mackenzie will receive funding.
  3. The Provincial Government is boosting financial aid to prevent youth suicide, and improve mental health.
    The Youth Suicide Prevention Grant Program is being raised by a million dollars, to total more than $4 million over two years.
  4. The 2024 Peace Country Classic Agri-Show starts tomorrow at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie.
    Exhibitors at the TARA Center, the Bull Sale at Drysdale Arena, plus events happening at Clarkson Hall, the Lewis Hawkes Arena, and the JDA Raceway are featured, along with the popular skijoring and Couch surfing.
  5. The Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 5% on Wednesday, citing continued concerns about the inflation outlook.
    In January, inflation was 2.9%, still above the bank’s 2 per cent target. Core inflation remains in the 3- to 3.5-per-cent range.
