- Investigations are continuing into an accident at the Fas Gas in Downtown Peace River over the weekend.
RCMP attended the scene where a vehicle allegedly drove into the north side wall of the business. - The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has formally suspended Brock Whalen.
McLennan RCMP arrested Whalen earlier this month after reports of sexual offences against a youth. - Jodi Calahoo-Stonehouse, a first-term member representing Edmonton-Rutherford, made her leadership bid for the Provincial NDP party,official on the weekend.
Calahoo-Stonehouse, joins Edmonton’s Sarah Hoffman, Rakhi Pancholi, and Calgary’s Kathleen Ganley in the race. - The Alberta government is making changes to grant funding given to daycares to help them weather the transition to a $10-a-day child-care system.
Instead of getting money 5-10 days after the end of a month, operators will start receiving 80% of what they are owed at the beginning of March, with the rest coming later. - Alberta MLA’s return to the legislature this week for a spring sitting, expected to see the first steps on sweeping structural reforms to health-care.
The sitting begins Wednesday, followed Thursday by the release of the 2024 budget, which Premier Danielle Smith has signalled will not keep pace with Alberta’s growth. - A 46-year-old man from Magrath, died in an avalanche in the back country between Carbondale and Castle Mountain Ski Resort in the Rocky Mountains Saturday.
Authorities recovered the body Sunday afternoon. - St. Isidore’s Nadia Lavoie is having success in her first season playing hockey at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
