  1. The Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex will not have any doctor coverage today and tonight.
    This is now the sixth time already this month that there has been no doctor coverage.
  2. The Board of the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division met recently, and brought forward some topics of discussion.
    The Division is looking into installing air quality monitors on top of all schools. The Division is also looking into student usage of cell phones at school.
  3. Big Lakes County has received Grant money, in anticipation of the 2024 wildfire season.
    Just over $31,000 has been provided by the Northwestern Alberta Foundation to build resiliency and preparedness for the upcoming season.
  4. Alberta premier Danielle Smith says the province will not need to cut spending in its upcoming budget despite lower-than-anticipated revenues from oil and gas.
    Anticipated personal income tax cuts will be delayed by a year and be phased in responsibly, and the province needs a plan to deliver a balanced budget each and every year.
  5. A number of pillars are part of the new tourism strategy for the Province of Alberta.
    The minister for Tourism and Sports, Joseph Schow, says one of those is on creating more “authentic Indigenous experiences”. (Interview on App)
  6. A youth worker who has been employed in Alberta and Saskatchewan has been charged with sex crimes involving a child.
    28 year-old Abraham Woo was arrested on Feb. 2 in Edmonton and charged with child luring, making, possessing and distributing child pornography.
  7. Toyota is conducting a safety recall to approximately 28,061 SUVs and pickup trucks in Canada involving transmission issues.
    The cars affected include the Toyota Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus LX 600 from the 2023 and 2024 model years.
  8. The Provincial High School Curling Championships are continuing this afternoon in Drayton Valley.
