  1. The Preliminary Hearing for Starr Sasakamoose Junior has been rescheduled for the beginning of June, rather than the end of August.
    Junior is charged in the death of his father, Driftpile Councillor Starr Sasakamoose Senior last April.
  2. Eight Municipal Councils meet today in the area, including seven this morning…
    Delegations are happening in various jurisdictions at their meeting.
  3. Ice Advisory continues for the Peace River…
    Even as the temperature dips, authorities are still saying to keep off the ice.
  4. There are currently no plans to ban cell phones in Alberta classrooms, even though other provinces have put in such rules.
    The Alberta Teachers’ Association says it wants to be involved in any future changes to legislation. Ontario and Quebec do have rules in place against cellphone use.
  5. The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society is putting out a plea for people to open their homes to foster dogs and puppies.
    The Peace Regional SPCA says they’re currently at capacity for dogs.
  6. 4.7 magnitude Quakes shakes west of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.
    It follows a series of quakes to hit the region just before Christmas.

    The wife of Prince William (Hier to the British throne) turns 42 today.
  8. Donald Trump expected in court today on charges that he illegally sought to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
    Trump is seeking immunity from the charges.
  9. Chad Leslie, GM of the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League, did some scouting in the  Peace Region.

    Edmonton is in Chicago, Ottawa is in Calgary, Vancouver is in New York to play the Islanders, Columbus is in Winnipeg, and San Jose is in Toronto.
  11. SNOW!!! About 5cm in the Peace and Big Lakes, 2cm in the Mackenzie, and 10-15cm in Grande Prairie and Valleyview will hit the ground into tomorrow.
    Then, the expected Extreme Cold Warnings will be in place, like it is right now in the Mackenzie.
  12. Snow and cold temperatures blanketing much of Canada right now.
    Hardest hit is the Lower Mainland (BC), Southwestern Ontario, and the Maritimes.
