  • A Public Spaces Bylaw was brought to the table this week at the Peace River Town Governance and Priorities Meeting.
    The guideline would include rules on camping in public areas, and would allow the RCMP or Peace Officer to assist with removal of encampments around town.
  • A TOPR Roadside Memorial Policy was also brought to the table this week.
    The guideline would recognize the need to allow grieving family and friends to respectfully honor a victim’s memory, but would also provide direction on the memorials placement, maintenance, and how long they can remain in place.
  • The Town of Peace River is holding an “Active Transportation Plan” Community Engagement Session at the Baytex today from 4-8.
    It’s phase two of the process of connecting the entire town, to improve access to all areas of the community.
  • Canada’s tech community is applauding a move by the Alberta government to allow for more workers to use the title “software engineer”.
    Premier Danielle Smith’s government introduced a bill that would allow for broader user of the descriptor, one that is commonly used in the tech industry but not by Alberta’s professional engineers.

    They say food and habitat loss due to wildfires contributed to bears being driven into urban areas.
